01. What are your private touchpoints to sport?

I grew up in a sportive family. My parents gave my brother and myself the possibility to get involved in a lot of different sports. In the winters we were skiing. I was ski jumping as a pupil and worked as an alpine ski instructor when I was a student. In the summers we were windsurfing and sailing. As a windsurfer I could participate in several German Championships and learned a lot about self-marketing.

Today, I try to pass my passion on my sons. They are successful alpine ski racers. Nowadays I work as pro bono president of the Ski Club Starnberg, leading the Organization Committee of the International German Alpine Ski Championships.

02. Tell us about the connection between your sport-passion and your job.

As an athlete I learned to take responsibility for others and myself. I had to define goals and to fight reaching them.

All this helps me today in reaching goals, and taking responsibility for my clients and my team.

Being a patent attorney on the one side and former athlete and sports official on the other side I can combine inside sport knowledge with technical and legal experience. This creates extra synergies for my clients who are for example producers of sport equipment and fashion brands.

03. When and how did I come up with the idea of becoming an IP Paralegal?

During my Masters’ studies at the LMU I started working in law offices as a student trainee and found the field of work very interesting. After taking my Degree I entered the trademark department of a big international IP Law Office where I could perfectly combine my language skills with my professional experiences.

04. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?

Taking over world-wide trademark portfolios with trademarks dating back to 1903 and getting a concrete grip at historic events and their impact on bureaucracy when leafing through the documents.

03. When and how did I come up with the idea of working in an IP office?
When I was done with my study, I began to work in a law office in Turkey. After I moved to Munich, I just applied for a patent office, because I thought it’s more interesting.

04. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?
It’s really hard to say what was the most catching moment in my career at GSKH because every day here is a new adventure 😊 Then in my job I experience every day something different (planning the exhibitions, getting visits from our clients all around the world…)

The first and last day of my patent attorney education. These two days I will never forget.

3. When and how did I come up with the idea of becoming an IP Paralegal?
It was a fortunate coincidence. I was jobbing only for a few weeks at an IP Office to earn enough money to make a journey. Then I became a good offer, so here I am. This story is 20 years old.

4. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?
Once we had big construction works in our office. There was so much noise and dust in the air nearby our main printer. I talked to my colleagues, and we decided I should talk to Mr. von Hirschhausen. I spoke to him, and immediately thereafter he contacted the construction workers. Consequently, they had to install a plastic wall around the main printer.  I felt happy that our dynamic team work was able to save our main printer – which is a quite expensive and precious technical facility in our office.

5. What does GSKH represent for you?
Respectfully working with excellent IP Professionals as a winning team; a good work-life-balance concept; funny excursions.

3. When and how did I come up with the idea of working in an IP Office?
This was 2018 and more of a coincidence, the job had interested me. Now, I have come to love the multifaceted international nature of my daily work that allows me to cooperate with accounting colleagues all over the world.

4. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?
The change from self-employment to employment at my age – but it turned out to be no problem at all, it was an opportunity, motivates me, and keeps me interested and fit.

5. What does GSKH represent for you?
For me GSKH means independent work with a lot of fun in a young team. Respectful interaction with each other, flat hierarchies and a very pleasant environment. In addition, I, as well as our clients, appreciate the personal commitment and performance of our partners.

03. When and how did I come up with the idea of becoming a Patent attorney?

During my internship at GSKH, I quickly realized that the patent system, with its variety of technical content and simultaneous need for linguistic precision, was exactly what I had been looking for.

04. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?
A personal highlight was, of course, the first time one of my own arguments helped sway the opinion of an EPO opposition division in favor of our client.

05. What does GSKH represent for you?For me, GSKH represents a comprehensive approach to IP-consulting, which is based above all on thoroughness and specifically tailored to each client. Besides, I have always found working with the team here very enjoyable.

03. When and how did I come up with the idea of becoming a Patent attorney for an IP Office?

It was during my Ph.D. thesis in chemistry, where I first came in touch with and was directly affected by the IP-topic.

04. What was the most catching moment/adventure/happening, … in your career so far?
That was probably my first oral hearing in opposition proceedings which I conducted – and won – on my own.

A professional working environment based on personal interaction filled with attentiveness and respect.
